Happy to try and clarify!
Have you watched all the videos that explain each step? (Even though you’re using the template). Definitely do that in order to fully understand what each part does!
There are also some additional “rules” that you need to set up, outside of the visual automation, that you’ll have to do manually. (I can’t share a template for rules.) Those are demonstrated in the videos.

But to answer your specific question about that step in the automation:
That’s a conditional step that’s looking for whether or not someone has the tag indicating that they registered via your instagram/social media landing page.
If they have that tag, the next step is to REMOVE that tag.
You need to remove the tag so that someone is able to register again through the same landing page again in the future.
(A decent number of people forgot they already signed up for something and try to register again! If you don’t remove the tag, they won’t be able to be added to the automation again and won’t receive anything.)
The tag is added via a RULE (set up within the “RULES” section of ConvertKit). When someone opts into your landing page, add that tag.
Then create a SECOND rule, that when that tag is added, unsubscribe someone from the landing page (so that they are able to sign up again later).
(This is all explained in the videos with visual demonstrations.)

Once you have the proper rules set up to add that tag, you’ll be able to properly edit the visual automation.
To edit that step in the automation, just click on it and an “edit step” button should appear.
Edit the condition to look for YOUR specific tag that you set to be added when someone joined your landing page for the 5 day email series.
Then edit the step after that to then REMOVE that tag if it was present.

This only needs to be done for the landing page, because if someone has already signed up via the banner on your website, they’ll never see the banner again, so there’s no way to collect repeat subscribers from your site.
(Whereas with social media, if you’re constantly sharing the same link or manychat automation, chances are people will forget and sign up more than once.)
