Oh and using Grow to collect first party-data realllyyyy is for the benefit of Mediavine publishers as whole, not so much you as an individual. By getting your readers to opt into the Grow network, your readers are consenting to share information about their on-site behavior with the ad network, so that the ad network can then use that data to better serve ads on the websites within its network. The hope is that it will help buffer any future losses in ad revenue when 3rd party cookies go away.

You don’t need Grow to collect first-party data. You’re already collecting 1st party data (name and email) when you have someone sign up for your email list, which you can do through any form builder.

Or, any information you collect from a survey, that’s 1st party data.

Or, if you have the ConvertKit plugin installed, that’s also a way to track the behavior of your subscribers on your site. You can pair that data with other tools like RightMessage and deliver highly personalized experiences on your website, based on the 1st party data you have.

Lots and lots of ways to collect 1st party data and deliver a good user experience. You definitely don’t need Grow to do that.
